As we develop a lifestyle governed by wisdom

“How long will you simple ones love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge? For the waywardness of the simple will kill them: and the complacency of fools will destroy them; but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm (Proverbs 1:22, 32-33 NIV).

One of the most debilitating things in life is to live in ignorance and revel in it. Ignorance is the antithesis to wisdom and it is even further from the wisdom that comes from God. There are so many people in the world today who live in poverty, destroy their relationships and end up isolated and rejected because they failed to understand the keys to living a fruitful successful life.

Success means different things to different people. For many it is having lots of money while for others it is being held in high esteem by others. For the believer in Jesus it is to know that you are a friend of God (James 2:23). As a friend of God our lives are then predicated by what he wants for us. This is the crux of the matter for many people, they just do not know what God wants for them or requires from them. And end up living in ignorance never able to fulfil their immense potential.

For the wise then, this is what Micah says that God requires of us in 6:8 from the Message version;

“But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do,
 what God is looking for in men and women.
It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbour,
be compassionate and loyal in your love,
And don’t take yourself too seriously—
take God seriously
.”

Don’t stay in ignorance, recognise the hero inside of you and develop him or her!
